Sawai Mansingh cricket Stadium is an
international cricket Stadium situated in
the capital Pink City or Jaipur of
Rajasthan. It was built in the reign of
Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II in the year 1983
that is the reason that this stadium name is
Sawai Mansingh Stadium (SMS). This is also a
sports park which gives the facilities of
many more games like cricket, badminton,
tennis, Table Tennis, Kabaddy, Kushty,
bicycling, gymnastics games etc. In the pink
city the location of SMS stadium is at the
corner of Rambagh circle, Jaipur.
The SMS has two Pitches; the total Radius is
80 meters, total Perimeters, 502 meters,
total Area is 20096 meter square.
The sitting capacity at the ground is
30,000; Numbers of rooms are 28 rooms. There
are one Gym, one restaurant, two conference
halls, one swimming pool and four
floodlights are present.
There are number of national and
international matches are played. The first
One Day International Match (ODI) was played
between India V/s Pakistan at 02 October,
1983. In this match India won by four
wickets. The first test match was played
between the India V/s Pakistan at 21-26
February, 1987. It is the lonely test match
hosted by SMS Stadium. SMS Stadium hosted
two World Cup Matches in the year 1987 and
1996 respectively. Some major tournaments
are also played here. A large number of
Indian Premier League (IPL) matches are also
playing here time to time.
Sawai Mansingh Stadium also keeps many
cricket records. The high score in ODI is
303-4 by India against the Shri Lanka in
year 2005-06. The lowest score in ODI is 135
by India against the Pakistan. The maximum
individual score is 183* by the Mahendra
Singh Dhoni caption of Indian cricket team
at the present time.
