Galta
ji “Temple of the Sun God” "Monkey
temple" is another famous place for
Hindus in royal pink city or even in the
whole Rajasthan. It’s located 10 kms from
jaipur at Agra highway. To the east of
Jaipur, the Galta Temple is 2.5 kms climb
from Surajpol. The Galta is a holy place,
has a temple to dedicated Sun God & kunds
(natural springs and reservoirs), this
temple built by diwan kriparam on the top of
the highest peak of hill. Also it’s a
remarkable template because it is the only
one of its kind in this part of the country.
By the east of the Sun temple is a Kund or a
tank which is fed by spring of pure water
falling from a Gaumukh or an outlet shaped
like the mouth of a cow. In this location 2
water tanks available, one for men and
another for women purpose. Now a day’s these
tanks are modified with water cleaning and
some safety points. It’s completely situated
within rocking hills.
On the way of Galta, by the road of Ghat ki
Guni is a range of hills crowned with the
fort of amarghar. It’s an amazing place for
outing purpose and visitors can also take a
bath in this lake.
One more attraction are monkeys here, it’s
also called monkey temple. Natural water
springs draw special attention of the
tourists.
The Hindu festival of Makar Sankranti 14
January falling in mid-January is celebrated
in a big way in the temple.
